The Crankbrothers Candy is a renowned pedal created by Carl and Frank, the original founders of Crankbrothers. They were tired of dealing with pedals that got stuck in mud and had no easy way to release. Existing pedals were too complex, so they set out to design a better solution. They asked themselves, what is the best way to attach a shoe to a crank? Their answer was a pedal with just two moving parts, hinged on a spring. This innovative system became known as the eggbeater pedal, which later evolved into the Candy pedal. The Candy pedal is incredibly versatile and is used by a wide range of riders. Whether on the trail, at cyclocross races, or even on commuter bikes, these pedals offer great performance. The cage surrounding the 4-point engagement system provides added confidence and a larger pedal surface area compared to the eggbeater pedal.Included with the Candy pedal are premium brass cleats and shims. The release angle ranges from 15° to 20°, providing flexibility for different riding styles. With a warranty of 2 years, you can trust the durability of these pedals. Each pair weighs just 272g and features a forged scm435 chromoly steel spindle and a one-piece composite body. The wings are made of stamped steel, while the spring is constructed from 300 series stainless steel. The pedal also has inner bushing and outer cartridge bearings. There are no restrictions on rider weight, and the Candy pedal is available in a range of attractive colours: black, blue, red, or neon green. Like all Crankbrothers products, these pedals are fully serviceable with the level 1 / 2 service kit (product code CRB-11729). Servicing is straightforward and does not require specialist tools. All you need is a flat head screwdriver, socket wrench, and 8mm Allen key to hold the pedal by the axle. We recommend cleaning and greasing the pedal every 30 hours of riding and regularly inspecting the bearings for wear.
