It’s easy to forget the pro cyclists we idolize are more than superhuman athletes. Off the bike, they’re just like us, with passions and hobbies that go beyond bike racing.
Classics specialist John Degenkolb, for instance, has amazed audiences with wins at monuments such as Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix. But there’s a lot more to Dege. To commemorate his inaugural season with Trek-Segafredo, Trek has created a special edition bike that honors John’s achievements on the bike and his diverse interests off it.
Dege’s off-the-bike passion is motorcycles, and his custom Kawasaki Café Racer moto is a fitting ride for a man who appreciates the beauty of classic lines and thoughtful design details. The John Degenkolb Café Racer Domane takes cues from his most prized possession to deliver an aesthetic that would also be at home among the artwork that adorns the covers of his extensive vinyl collection.
A base of hand-scuffed liquid metal is complemented with a dark smoke tint and clean racing stripes. Pops of glossy red smoke add contrast, and John’s lucky number and removable team logos complete the design.
Race Shop Limited models feature Trek’s Pro Endurance geometry, which provides a lower, longer, more aerodynamic riding position than the Endurance geometry found on Domane SLR. It’s the same fit John and the pros of Trek-Segafredo ride on the roughest roads of the Spring Classics. Domane SLR Race Shop Limited Disc is an entirely new option in Project One, introducing the power of disc brakes to Trek’s raciest endurance platform.
We have a 54cm frameset in store now in the H2 geometry from Trek ready for a custom build of your choice.
